Film, Flowers & Rock’n’Roll: Ashley & Josh’s Sure Thing Chapel Elopement

Film, Flowers & Rock’n’Roll: Ashley & Josh’s Sure Thing Chapel Elopement

There are some sessions that just stick with you, not because they were over-the-top or wild, but because they felt right. This Sure Thing Chapel elopement with Ashley and Josh was exactly that. It was 90 minutes of pure, laid-back magic: a killer mix of style, soul, and slow-down storytelling. The couple? Tattooed, music-obsessed, and as cool as they come. The setting? A block’s worth of retro charm. The result? A gallery that proves you don’t need a long timeline or dozens of guests to get a wildly beautiful and editorial-worthy collection of photos.

The Elopement Ceremony at Sure Thing Chapel

Ashley and Josh kicked things off with a private 30-minute ceremony inside the candy-coated, heart-glowing dream that is Sure Thing Chapel. With its velvet pink drapes, vintage bathroom touches, and cheeky neon signage, it’s one of my favorite places to shoot. There’s something about that heart arch that makes every frame feel iconic. The couple exchanged vows surrounded by soft light and even softer smiles her in a short lace dress and veil, him in a black-on-black look that gave just the right amount of edge.

A Quick Walk & A Whole Vibe

Once we wrapped their ceremony, we didn’t have to go far to change the scene. The beauty of a Sure Thing Chapel elopement is its placement: located right in the heart of some of downtown Vegas’s most photogenic spots. We wandered outside to take advantage of the pink breeze block wall, vintage signs, and storefronts with just the right amount of wear. Think: heart-shaped sunglasses, record-store attitude, and all the post-elopement glow.

Fergusons Downtown & 11th Street Records: The Perfect Stop After Their Sure Thing Chapel Elopement

We made our way over to Fergusons Downtown and 11th Street Records two of my favorite gems on the block. Fergusons brings a mix of modern desert and mid-century nostalgia, while 11th Street Records feels like stepping into someone’s vinyl collection come to life. Ashley and Josh, being the music lovers they are, slipped right into the vibe. Among the album covers and checkerboard floors, we got some of my favorite images of the whole day. This part of the shoot felt like a love letter to indie records, eye contact, and the art of taking your time.

Three Formats, One Story

What made this elopement even more special? Ashley and Josh added on both 120 medium format and instant film to their 35mm package which meant I was able to give them a truly layered, nostalgic gallery. Instant film gave us that raw, imperfect-in-the-best-way kind of energy. 120 brought in rich detail and a softness you can almost touch. And 35mm? Always timeless. This is the kind of session that shows how much variety and depth you can get in just 90 minutes when you have the right combo of format, location, and trust.
